MONTREAL HOOKED ON SCHOOL (MHS) IS A REGIONAL ORGANIZATION OF 33 MEMBERS IN DIFFERENT SECTORS WHO ARE WORKING TO PROMOTE THE SCHOOL PERSEVERANCE AND SUCCESS OF YOUNG PEOPLE.
With support from its members, Montreal Hooked on School:
Phelps Aide Phelps Helps was founded in 2012 to expressly combat the unacceptably high drop-out rates in the Stanstead area of Quebec. Since inception, the organization has grown organically from a single high school tutoring program to six individual free-of-charge programs providing educational and career support. Phelps serves Stanstead area community members between the ages of 8 and 30 with a continuum of services, prioritizing those facing numerous barriers to attaining an education and employment.
Hooked on School Days is a time when Montreal re-focuses on one of its most important issues: encouraging young people to stay in school.
Held annually throughout Québec in February, Hooked on School Days (HSD) are a special occasion to highlight the importance of staying in school, for the well-being of both individual students and society as a whole. HSD also celebrate the vital work of those who help young people fulfill their potential.
Réseau réussite Montréal has coordinated Hooked on School Days in Montreal with great pride since HSD Montreal first began in 2011.
